NCDMB Empowers 50 Delta Youths with Intensive GSM Repair Training

In a strategic move to tackle unemployment and bridge the technical skills gap in the telecommunications sector, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has officially commenced a five-day intensive training program for 50 youths in Delta State.

The vocational initiative, which kicked off on Monday, focuses on GSM phone repairs and is being facilitated by Papi Efe Limited. This program is the latest installment in the NCDMB’s nationwide drive to foster youth empowerment and human capital development.

The week-long curriculum is designed to be highly practical, offering participants hands-on experience in the intricate world of mobile technology. Trainees are being immersed in both hardware diagnostics and software troubleshooting, covering a wide range of modern mobile devices.

According to organizers, the goal is to ensure that by the end of the five-day session, each participant is fully equipped to diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile phones—skills that are in high demand as Nigeria’s mobile penetration continues to grow.

The NCDMB emphasized that this initiative is not just about technical knowledge, but about creating self-reliance. By providing these young Nigerians with marketable skills, the Board aims to turn trainees into entrepreneurs who can establish their own repair businesses, thereby becoming employers of labor rather than job seekers.

“This program is a core part of our wider human capital development strategy,” an NCDMB representative noted. “We are focused on vocational and technical training in ICT and other emerging trades because they offer a direct path to economic independence and professional growth.”

The training falls under the Board’s mandate to increase indigenous participation in various sectors of the economy. By targeting the ICT and telecommunications fields, the NCDMB is helping to build a workforce capable of supporting Nigeria’s burgeoning digital economy.

Community leaders in Delta State have praised the initiative, noting that such targeted vocational training is essential for reducing youth restiveness and contributing to the overall economic stability of the region.

As the training progresses through the week, the 50 participants are expected to undergo a final assessment to certify their proficiency, marking the beginning of their journey into Nigeria’s vibrant telecommunications service industry.
