Ned Nwoko Denies Marrying Regina Daniels at 17, Calls Claims “Incorrect and Misleading”

Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly dismissed claims circulating online that he married Nollywood actress Regina Daniels when she was just 17 years old, describing the allegations as “incorrect and misleading.”

In a detailed statement, Nwoko explained that when he first met Regina, he asked about her age, and she told him she was 21. He said she also presented an INEC voter’s card showing her date of birth as October 10, 1998—a document he requested to see and has kept since.

According to the senator, their marriage took place six years ago, which, based on those records, would make Regina Daniels 27 years old today. He further cited an interview Regina’s mother granted to the BBC shortly after the marriage, claiming that the interview addressed and clarified questions surrounding her daughter’s age.

Nwoko urged the public to approach the issue with caution, emphasizing the importance of verifying facts before spreading misinformation. He insisted that the narrative portraying him as having married an underage girl is false and unfair.

The statement also touched on concerns about Daniels’ reported rehabilitation process, alleging that she had once begun treatment but later abandoned it.

This response comes amid renewed social media debates about the actress’s age at the time of her marriage—a topic that has long been the subject of speculation and controversy. Supporters of the senator have pointed to the ID card and prior media interviews as evidence backing his account, while critics continue to call for independent verification of the claims.

The statement underscores the ongoing tension between public perception and verified information, as both Nwoko and Daniels remain under intense media scrutiny..
