New Executives Emerges in APC LGA Congress

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Saturday February 21st conducted its Local Government Area (LGA) congress across the 25 council areas in the state. The exercise led to the emergence of new executives via consensus. Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were in attendance to monitor the exercise.

Security agencies were also present to maintain law and order, alongside stakeholders of the party. Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie welcomed members of the APC National Committee in Asaba. In his address, he urged strict compliance to party’s rules and guidelines.

Also in attendance was the National Committee Secretary, Hon. Simon Atigwe, who noted that the main goal of the exercise was to ensure transparency and strengthen the unity within the party. He expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the congress across the three senatorial districts in Delta state.

Chairmen and other executives emerged by consensus in various LGAs including Oshimili South/North, Uvwie, Isoko North/South, Ughelli North/South, Ika North-East, Ethiope West/East. Stakeholders within the party described the congress as being peaceful, an attestation of the cohesion within the party.

However, chaos broke out during the Congress held in Ethiope West, as Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, reportedly survived an alleged assassination attempt. Several party delegates sustained injuries in the attack.

In his remarks, APC Chieftain and the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, who was also in attendance congratulated party members for a successful congress while tasking them to work towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the upcoming 2027 elections.
