The Nigeria Football Federation has conveyed its gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Adedapo Abiodun of Ogun State, for his generous monetary gifts to the players and officials of Nigeria and Cameroon’s senior women national teams after their friendly match in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, held on Tuesday.
In this match, Nigeria, the nine-time African champions, secured a victory against the Lionesses, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade netting two goals.
The first from a penalty kick in the 28th minute and the second during added time of the first half, following a well-executed team play where Rinsola Babajide assisted her captain inside the opponent’s eighteen-yard box.
After the match, a delighted Governor Abiodun presented the Super Falcons with a total of N20 million, while the visiting team was awarded N10 million.
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the General Secretary of the NFF, praised the Governor for his generous gesture, noting that such incentives inspire athletes in various sports to perform better and strive for excellence in future competitions.

“The financial incentives have been well received by the team, and I believe it provides an additional psychological boost, complementing their win against the Cameroonians in the match.
The NFF is dedicated to ensuring that players and their officials have a supportive environment for their preparations leading up to the WAFCON final camping program.”
Nigeria is poised to compete in Group B of the 12-team Women Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, set to take place from July 5th to 26th, alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.
The Super Falcons will play all their games in Casablanca, starting with Tunisia on July 6th, followed by Botswana on July 10th, and Algeria on July 13th.
