NGF Honours Edo Education Commissioner Paddy Iyamu With Award for Outstanding Educational Impact

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has bestowed an Award of Excellence in Educational Impact on Edo State Commissioner for Education and Chairman of the Nigeria Education Forum (NEF) 2025 Steering Committee, Dr. Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu.

The award was presented on behalf of Vice President Kashim Shettima during an NGF ceremony held at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The recognition celebrates Dr. Iyamu’s role in driving major reforms in Edo State’s education sector and his leadership in shaping national conversations on educational transformation through the NEF 2025.

According to the NGF, Dr. Iyamu’s work—alongside that of Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo—has set high standards in teacher development, digital learning, curriculum strengthening, and school governance.

The Forum noted that these reforms are influencing policy direction not only in Edo but across several states adopting similar models.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Iyamu expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the Office of the Vice President for the honour.

He described the recognition as a call to deepen ongoing work toward sustainable learning outcomes under Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda.

He dedicated the award to the Governor, teachers, students, and education stakeholders across the state, emphasising that Edo’s progress in the sector is the result of “teamwork, collaboration, and a shared vision for a stronger, more equitable education system.”

The event brought together policymakers, development partners, and education leaders as part of broader engagements aimed at strengthening state-level contributions to Nigeria’s education reform roadmap.
