NGO Sues for Peace in Warri Federal Constituency

In its quest to ensure sustainable peace in Warri Federal Constituency and beyond, the Center For Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ  carried the message of peaceful coexistence to residents of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

‎The event which was put together by CEPEJ in collaboration with Warri Peace Community Support Initiative, Delta Civil Society Forum and the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom Youths was geared toward spreading the message of peaceful coexistence in order to drive in rapid sustainable growth and development in the land.

‎ Youths and leaders from the different communities that made up Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom as well as security personnel came together to discuss  the subject matter of Peace.

‎The National Coordinator of CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade in his opening remarks said that peace brings about development.

‎He recalled how Warri City, which is referred to as Oil City in the past was booming with social and commercial activities before the advent of the Warri Crisis which brought division and slow the pace of development to the land.

‎Some persons who spoke including the Vice Chairman of the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom Governing Council, Chief Christiana Seibiribo, the President of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom Youth Council, Ambassador Victor Akemotubo and Chief Okoro Okiero all lauded CEPEJ and its partners for taking the message of peaceful coexistence to concerned stakeholders in Warri and its environs.

‎In his paper presentation on Keys for sustainable peace in Warri, Professor Andrew Agboro said that conflict is bound to happen among people but emphasized that resolving the conflict before getting out of hands is key to sustainable peace.

‎On his part Executive Director of Neferok Development Initiative Nefertiti Ayo-Okotie who spoke on the Roles of the Youths in sustainable peace in Warri, said that youths in Warri should ditch the ugly narrative of posting negative things about Warri on the Internet to uploading of events that will put Warri on a positive light on the Internet.

‎The Divisional Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Warri South West local government area Mr. Arman Tijani and the Area Crime Officer of the Nigerian Police Force Burutu Area Command CSP Odih Abigail both emphasized on how peace helps to reduce the work load of security personnel in any given society.

‎The peaceful coexistence awareness program featured visual presentation and drama on the benefits of peaceful coexistence.
