After weathering the tough economic reforms, Nigerians are being encouraged to stay strong, as the long-promised hope is finally beginning to take shape.
In his message marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, said that despite the hardships brought on by the reforms, the nation is now on a path toward renewed prosperity and Nigerians can start looking ahead with confidence.
“This positive shift in Nigeria’s fortunes is largely thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strong leadership, along with the patience and support of the Nigerian people,” Senator Ovie Omo-Agege said in his Independence Day message. “All signs now point to a steady return of confidence in the economy, as seen in the growing interest and investment from entrepreneurs. It reflects a shared belief in our country’s ability to recover and that belief has been reignited by President Tinubu’s vision.”
Omo-Agege also noted that although we’re only halfway through the current administration, the level of fiscal discipline and the rollout of key, impactful projects are unprecedented. According to him, no previous administration has combined such careful financial management with strategic initiatives aimed at real, long-term development.
“What’s important now is that we keep backing President Tinubu to ensure the economic reforms continue well beyond 2027. It’s crucial that the groundwork being laid for the economy’s revival doesn’t stop but carries on past that year.”
“At 65, Nigeria is starting to find its footing and claim its place among nations that offer a decent and affordable life for their people. That’s definitely something to celebrate on this Independence Day. A brighter future awaits us—a future that will leave the next generations with a strong and thriving country,” Omo-Agege said.
“I wish all Nigerians a joyful Independence anniversary, and I urge everyone to continue supporting our President as he leads us toward lasting growth and prosperity.”
