The Nationwide League One (NLO) has announced that ten of its staff members will take part in a three-day online Executive Course in Sport Law.
Organized by the Lagos-based School of Corporate & Business Law (LPP) under the Companies & Allied Matters Act 2020, the program kicks off on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. The Professional Certificate in Sport Law is designed to equip professionals, administrators, and sports enthusiasts with a deep understanding of the legal frameworks that govern the sports industry.
Participants will explore key topics including contracts, sponsorships, governance, dispute resolution, and athlete rights, enabling them to navigate the complex landscape of sports management more effectively.
Olushola Ogunnowo, Chief Operating Officer of the NLO, highlighted the league’s ongoing commitment to staff development, saying, “Continuing education for our staff has become an annual practice. This reflects our focus on training and development as essential parts of our human resource strategy.”
He added that such programs help reinforce and expand staff knowledge and skills, ensuring the team remains up to date with the latest industry developments, regulations, and best practices.
The online course also covers critical aspects of grassroots football management, underscoring the NLO’s dedication to keeping its staff aligned with industry standards. Ogunnowo explained, “Investing in these courses is vital for safety, compliance, improving performance, and minimizing risks.”
He further emphasized the growing commercial significance of sports, noting, “Sports is now a multi-billion-dollar industry. Every club, academy, athlete, and sports brand requires legal expertise. This course positions our staff to take advantage of these expanding opportunities.”
Upon completion, the ten staff members will earn certification as Sports Law Professionals, enhancing their credibility, professional profile, and eligibility for higher-value roles in sports management and consulting.
By prioritizing professional development, the NLO is fostering a culture of continuous improvement that benefits both the organization and its stakeholders.
