No Rift With Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom – Chief Opuoru

The Special Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Environment, Chief Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, has dismissed circulating rumours suggesting a strained relationship between him and the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, HRM Dr. Morris Ogheneochuko Eyekpimi-Egboboyen Owhotemu II, as well as the people of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

Chief Opuoru, who previously represented Warri South Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly, made this clarification during an interactive session with journalists while paying a courtesy visit to the revered monarch at his palace along Edjemudarho, off Cinema Site, Okumagba Avenue, on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Bearing the prestigious title of Eni (Elephant) of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Opuoru explained that the visit was intended to publicly demonstrate that there is no rift between him, the traditional ruler, and the Okere Urhobo people. He reaffirmed his loyalty and respect for the kingdom and its leadership.

The Warri Urhobo Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for appointing him as Special Adviser on Environment, praising the governor’s achievements so far. He further pledged to work tirelessly to ensure Delta State emerges as Nigeria’s cleanest state, revealing plans to embark on a statewide sensitisation tour across the 25 local government areas to promote environmental cleanliness.

In his response, the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom thanked Chief Opuoru for the visit and expressed delight at the large turnout of supporters who accompanied him.

A major highlight of the visit was a special prayer offered for Chief Opuoru by the traditional ruler.
