Northern Youth Council of Nigeria Awards Burutu Council Chairman

The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has honoured the Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government, Hon Julius Takeme, with its highest recognition, the Shield of the Northern Nigerian Youths Award.

The award which was presented to Hon Julius Takeme in Warri, Delta State, had some members of the executive and legislative Council of Burutu local government present.

‎Speaking during the presentation of award to the Chairman Burutu Local Government, Hon Julius Takeme, the National President of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comrade Yusuf Salihu, said the award is in acknowledgement of Hon Julius Takeme’s outstanding leadership, humanitarian services, and developmental initiatives in Burutu Local Government Area.

He informed that the NYCN had carefully observed the performance of local government chairmen across the country and found Hon. Julius Takeme’s record of service exceptional.

Comrade Yusuf Salihu cited several projects and humanitarian gestures, including the sponsorship of an athlete to represent Nigeria in Singapore, as evidence of the Burutu council boss commitment to youth empowerment and community development.

Also speaking, the NYCN spokesman, Comrade Sani Mamman, described Hon Julius Takeme as a youth-friendly leader who has contributed meaningfully to nation-building, noting that the official decoration ceremony will hold soon in Burutu, the local government headquarters.

‎In his response, Hon Julius Takeme expressed gratitude to the NYCN for the honour, describing the recognition from such a prominent northern youth body as a surprise.

He emphasized that he rarely accepts awards, preferring to focus on service delivery, but said the gesture would spur him to do more.

Hon Julius Takeme also appealed to the federal government, through the NYCN, to urgently construct a road to Burutu, the local government headquarters, noting that it remains the only local government headquarters in Nigeria not connected by road.

Highpoint was the presentation of award as the Shield of the Northern Nigerian Youths Award to Hon Julius Takeme by the National President of NYCN, Comrade Yusuf Salihu.
