The Technical Adviser of Warri Wolves, Aluma Napoleon, has identified tactical errors as the main reason for his team’s recent defeat. The “Seasiders” suffered a 4-2 loss during the Warri Wolves vs Rangers clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday.
This high-scoring match ended a positive period for the visiting team. Before this game, Warri Wolves had enjoyed a three-game unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Coach Napoleon admitted that the home side was dominant from the start. He noted that Rangers International played with an intensity that unsettled his players early in the match.
“Honestly, Rangers unsettled our game plan,” Napoleon stated during his post-match briefing. He explained that his team struggled to find their rhythm because the “Flying Antelopes” pressured them effectively.
While Warri Wolves managed to score twice, they could not fix their defensive issues. As the team pushed forward to equalize, they left gaps in the backline.
“As we were trying to come back, we made some other tactical mistakes,” Napoleon added. These errors eventually led to Rangers scoring their fourth and final goal. Consequently, the Seasiders were unable to recover and salvage a point from the trip to Enugu.
Following the defeat, Warri Wolves now occupy the 10th position on the league table. They currently have 30 points as the season moves into a critical phase.
In contrast, the victory helps Rangers maintain their push for a top-four finish. After the Warri Wolves vs Rangers result, the Enugu-based club remains one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
Moving forward, Coach Napoleon will likely focus on defensive drills to prevent similar tactical lapses. Fans expect the team to bounce back in their next home fixture to climb back up the standings.
