NTA, Global TV Partner with SWAN for 60th Anniversary Celebration

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Global Television have pledged their support to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) ahead of its Diamond Jubilee celebration scheduled for October 30–31, 2025.

During a courtesy visit to the NTA headquarters in Abuja, the General Manager of NTA Sports, Mr. Kayode Adeniyi, who received the SWAN delegation on behalf of the Director-General, described the 60th anniversary as a landmark event for Nigerian sports journalism. He assured the association of NTA’s full support, saying the Director-General values SWAN’s contribution to sports development in the country.

Adeniyi commended the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman, Mr. Ben Ogbemudia, for his leadership and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a successful celebration.

Earlier, SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, appreciated NTA’s consistent partnership and outlined activities lined up for the anniversary, including symposiums, paper presentations, a novelty football match, the SWAN House project launch, and an awards and gala night. He emphasized that the milestone celebration would also serve as a time for reflection and renewal of commitment to sports journalism in Nigeria.

Similarly, at Global Television’s Abuja headquarters, Acting Managing Director, Ms. Aisha Musa Larai, congratulated SWAN for its achievements over six decades and assured the association of Global TV’s collaboration in media coverage and publicity.

Both organisations pledged continued partnership to ensure a historic and memorable SWAN@60 celebration.
