Oborevwori Advocates Collaborative, Sustainable Infrastructure Development at National Works Council

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called for a more unified national approach to infrastructure development—one anchored in innovation, sustainability, and equitable access across Nigeria’s regions.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, at the 30th National Council on Works in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that meaningful development can only be achieved when all levels of government work in partnership with the private sector, development institutions, and local communities.

The Governor noted that Delta State is already applying such a model through the M.O.R.E. Agenda, which prioritizes Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security.

He explained that infrastructure remains a central pillar of this agenda, citing road construction, bridge rehabilitation, and urban renewal projects currently active across the state.

Oborevwori commended the Federal Ministry of Works for sustaining the NNPCL-funded Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme. He described the initiative as a strategic and realistic mechanism for accelerating national road delivery at a time when public revenue is pressured by economic challenges.

“This model demonstrates that public-private collaboration is not only possible but effective,” he said. “It has unlocked milestones in federal road construction and provides a template for states to partner meaningfully with industry stakeholders.”

The Governor restated Delta State’s readiness to work closely with the Federal Government on infrastructure that connects communities, boosts commerce, reduces travel time, and improves safety. He stressed that well-planned transport networks remain essential to economic diversification, rural inclusion, and national cohesion.

Highlights from the event involved Commissioner Izeze engaging policymakers, engineers, and stakeholders, with participants expressing strong support for shared development strategies that reduce regional disparities and strengthen economic corridors.

Oborevwori concluded by reaffirming that Delta State will continue to champion infrastructure that uplifts livelihoods, expands investment opportunities, and reflects the collective aspirations of its people.

He described the moment as one that calls not just for construction—but for cooperation, long-term planning, and sustainable execution across Nigeria.
