Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has received praise for his proactive efforts to maintain healthcare delivery and safeguard the welfare of resident doctors in the state amid the ongoing nationwide strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
The Chief Medical Director of Asaba Specialist Hospital, Dr. Peace Ighosewe, commended the governor’s swift actions in addressing both the operational needs of resident doctors and the broader healthcare welfare of Deltans.
Dr. Ighosewe highlighted that Governor Oborevwori’s interventions demonstrate his administration’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted medical services and motivating healthcare professionals despite the nationwide challenges confronting the health sector.
“The governor has shown remarkable dedication to keeping our hospitals functional and ensuring that health workers are motivated to provide quality care. His prompt attention to matters affecting resident doctors is highly commendable,” she said.
The CMD also acknowledged the resilience and dedication of resident doctors and the medical team at Asaba Specialist Hospital during the recent strike actions that disrupted medical services across the country.
She noted that despite a surge in patient numbers, hospital staff remained committed, ensuring that lives were saved even amid the crisis.
“Even when other centres were on strike, our team worked tirelessly to attend to the large number of patients who came to us for care. Their dedication kept the system running, and management is profoundly grateful,” Dr. Ighosewe added.
She reaffirmed the hospital management’s commitment to supporting the state government’s healthcare reforms, emphasizing that Asaba Specialist Hospital remains focused on delivering world-class medical services to all residents of Delta State.
