Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has forwarded for screening and confirmation, the names of six nominees to the State House of Assembly for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
The names of the nominees were contained in a letter read at Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
Those nominated as Commissioners are Val Arevenka, Peter Uviejitobor Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod, Ebikeme Clark, Sunday Tataobuzogwu and Okocha Nduka Benjamin
Oborevwori in his letter, said the nomination was in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 192 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, (1999 as Amended).
“I will greatly appreciate if early action is taken to place the names of the nominees before the Honourable House for consideration and confirmation to enable me to effect their appointments in line with the Constitution”, the letter stated.
Following a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, the Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor thereafter urged the nominees to submit 35 copies of their curriculum vitae on or before the close of work on Wednesday 17 July 2024 and appear for screening on Thursday, 18 July 2024.
