Oborevwori forwards names of Revenue Board nominees to Delta Assembly

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday forwarded names of nominees for appointment, including a chairman, to the Delta State House of Assembly for appointment into the Board of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DIRS).

A letter from the Governor, which was read at plenary by the Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has the immediate past Deputy Chief Whip of the State Assembly, Mr Solomon Ighrakpata as Chairman.

Other nominees are: Mr Frank Nwaugo, Executive Director of Operations; Kelly Oghenekevwe, Executive Director, Finance and Administration; Collins Iwebunor, Executive Director, of ICT and Corporate Development and Hon Orezi Esievo as Executive Director, Legal Services.

Guwor, directed the nominees to submit thirty five copies of their curriculum vitae to reach the Clerk of the House, before Monday, 17 July 2023 and appear for screening on Tuesday, 18th July 2023.

Oborevwori said the nomination was a sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the former board, explaining that the appointment was in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by section five, subsection two and section six, subsection one of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue Service Law, 2020.”

Motions for the screening and confirmation of Justice Ojugbana Orishedere as President Customary Court of Appeal, Delta State, were approved by the House and moved by the Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi.

The Speaker congratulated Justice Ojugbana- Orishedere for the appointment and commended members for the painstaking screening exercise.

In another development, Governor Oborevwori has appointed eight Special Advisers and a Director-General to be in charge of Special Duties.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, said that the nominees would be inaugurated at date to be announced later.

The statement said: “It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly Deltans, that the governor of Delta State, His Excellency Hon. Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of the following persons as Special Advisers”.

They are Chief Edwin Uzor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Hon. Basil Ganagana, Chief Tony Emechi, Mrs. Eunice Okiemute Anirah.

Others are Mrs. Shemite Bello, Mrs. Griftson Omatsuli and Olorogun Jaro Egbo.

“In the same vein, His Excellency, has approved the appointment of Chief Frank Omare as Director-General (Special Duties),” the statement said.
