Oborevwori, Okowa, others celebrate Agbobu at 70


The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor in office, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, on Sunday, joined former Minister for Agriculture, Chief Chris Agbobu as he celebrated his 70th birthday.

Governor Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, attended the Thanksgiving Mass held at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Ubulu-Uno and also, attended the reception which also took place at Ubulu-Uno in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori in a goodwill message, said, “this is a milestone that calls for rich celebration and extravagant thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness and blessings upon you and your family.

“It is a thing of joy that at 70, you are in good health and sound mind, indeed, all the glory belongs to God for His sustaining grace and unfailing love.”

The governor wished the former Minister many happy returns and prayed for more years in good health, strength and in peace for Chief Agbobu.

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who was Chairman of thr occasion at the reception, described Chief Agbobu as a man with the forgiving spirit, a man who does not hold grudges and ready to work with others in a team.

Earlier in a Homily during the Thanksgiving Mass, Rev. Fr. Samuel Igwenwanne, described Easter as the greatest gift to the church, stating, “if Christ had not risen, we would not be here today as Christians.”

He described Chief Agbobu as a dedicated politician who has the fear of God.

“The greatest thanksgiving is understanding the source of your blessing.

“As you celebrate, reflect on the journey so far, count your blessings and give thanks to God,” the Priest admonished Chief Agbobu.

Prominent Nigerians attended the birthday anniversary celebration which had as highlight, presentation of gift by the Governor to the celebrant.
