Oborevwori Pledges Support for PTI, Approves Buses for Staff and Students

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday hosted the management team of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, led by its Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Dr. Samuel Erhigare Onoji, at Government House, Asaba.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the state and the premier oil and gas training institution, particularly in equipping young people with employable skills for the energy and allied industries. Engr. Onoji briefed the Governor on PTI’s vision to expand training opportunities for Delta youths at subsidised tuition, while also highlighting some of the institute’s operational challenges.

The Principal further informed the Governor of the institute’s forthcoming International Conference scheduled to hold in Abuja, which will bring together stakeholders from the oil and gas sector to deliberate on emerging trends and innovations.

In response, Governor Oborevwori commended PTI for its longstanding contributions to human capital development in Delta and across Nigeria. As a gesture of support, he directed the immediate provision of an 18-seater bus for staff and a larger Coaster bus to aid students’ transportation. The Governor noted that the gesture was in recognition of PTI’s role in training generations of industry professionals who continue to add value to the state and the nation’s economy.

He assured the visiting delegation of his administration’s readiness to partner with PTI in its quest to deliver quality training and strengthen local capacity in the energy sector.

During the visit, the institute also presented Governor Oborevwori with conference materials for the upcoming Abuja event, marking a symbolic moment of cooperation between the state government and the institution.
