Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to sustained infrastructure development across the state, emphasizing that the Ndokwa nation remains central to the realisation of his MORE Agenda.
The Governor gave the assurance on Tuesday at the 2025 Ndokwa Annual General Conference, organised by the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) at Ndokwa House, Kwale. He was represented at the event by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.
Addressing stakeholders, Oborevwori described the Ndokwa people—spread across Ndokwa West, Ndokwa East, and Ukwuani Local Government Areas—as a pillar of peace, intellectual strength, and economic productivity in Delta State.
He commended the unity and shared sense of purpose demonstrated by leaders and participants at the conference, noting that the annual gathering provides a strategic platform for reflection, consensus-building, and aligning Ndokwa aspirations with the state’s development vision.
Ndokwa at the Core of MORE Agenda
The Governor reiterated that when he assumed office, he made a solemn pledge to Deltans through the MORE Agenda—an acronym for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—and stressed that Ndokwa plays a crucial role in driving this vision forward.
“I want to thank the leadership of the Ndokwa Neku Union for the invitation. This conference is a vital platform for introspection, strategic planning, and the consolidation of the aspirations of the Ndokwa people within the larger Delta State project,” the Governor said in his message.
Massive Infrastructure Investments in Ndokwa
Oborevwori outlined key infrastructure achievements recorded in the region, highlighting landmark and ongoing projects designed to boost commerce and improve connectivity:

And other road projects spanning Ndokwa West and Ukwuani LGAs
Power, Empowerment and Economic Expansion
On power infrastructure, the Governor acknowledged the importance of the Okpai IPP Step-down Project, stating that his government is working in synergy with federal authorities and critical stakeholders to ensure that host communities benefit from improved electricity supply.
He added that the full operation of the Kwale Free Trade Zone will significantly boost electricity supply in Kwale and surrounding communities, while the Kwale Free Trade Zone itself will further accelerate economic activity and urban growth in the region.
Oborevwori also disclosed that his administration is prioritising Ndokwa youths and women in empowerment and skill acquisition programmes, ensuring that the wealth of the land translates into prosperity for its people.
“A lot of our youths have already been empowered to become entrepreneurs, and even more persons will benefit next year,” he assured.
The Governor appealed to the NNU and all stakeholders to continue championing unity, stressing that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
“We must resist any attempt to fracture our shared identity for personal or political gain. My administration remains a listening one and our doors are always open to the NNU for constructive engagement,” he said.
He concluded by wishing the Ndokwa people a successful conference and a prosperous 2026 in advance.

Earlier, the Chairman of the 2025 NNU Conference, Rear Admiral Mike Onah, OON (rtd), urged Ndokwa sons and daughters to remain united, emphasizing that development should be a collective responsibility, not the task of a select few. He noted that Ndokwa’s progress must benefit both citizens at home and those in the diaspora.
The President General of the Ndokwa Neku Union, Chief Amechi Asuguni, also reviewed the achievements of the current NNU Executive Council, marking one year in office. He highlighted progress in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, consultations, and strategic government interface.
Asuguni appealed to Ndokwa people to tone down internal disagreements, particularly around the issue of state creation, explaining that consultations are ongoing and require patience, restraint, and unity.
He further disclosed that the Union’s engagement with the Minister of Power and Energy on the Okpai IPP Step-down Project was successful, expressing optimism that the intervention would translate into improved electricity supply for host communities.
With billions invested in infrastructure, power, and human capital development, the Oborevwori administration continues to position the Ndokwa nation as a strategic partner in Delta’s economic expansion, peace architecture, and sustainable development framework.
