Oborevwori Says Delta Stands Firmly with Tinubu’s Reforms

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori described Nigerians as fortunate to have a humble and compassionate First Lady in Oluremi Tinubu, commending her dedication to supporting the poor and vulnerable.

He made the remarks on Thursday, during a grand homecoming reception held in her honour at the palace of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III. The event attracted a jubilant crowd that gathered from the early hours of the day to welcome her.

The governor pointed out that this was her third visit to Delta State in the past two years. He recalled her earlier visits, including the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Asaba and the Free to Shine programme, during which 10,000 professional kits were distributed to midwives across the South-South region.

Reiterating his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oborevwori urged the First Lady to convey Delta State’s solidarity to the President. “Please tell our leader, Mr. President, that Delta State stands firmly with him and his reforms for a better nation. You can always count on our support,” he said.

In her response, Senator Tinubu described the reception as deeply emotional, noting that it resonated strongly with her Itsekiri roots. She called for unity among Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious differences. She also announced a N50 million empowerment package for 1,000 women petty traders and promised further youth-focused initiatives in collaboration with the state government.

The colourful ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other top government officials. Cultural performances and chants of solidarity added to the celebratory atmosphere.
