Oborevwori Strengthens Social Welfare with New Investment Law

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has bolstered the state’s governance structure by assenting to the Delta State Social Investment Programme Law, providing a robust legal framework for targeted interventions in social welfare, education, and security.

The law, signed alongside two other bills, aims to ensure equitable and grassroots-focused delivery of government support to vulnerable and underserved communities across the state.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Oborevwori emphasised that the Social Investment Programme Law institutionalises initiatives designed to reach those most in need promptly and without discrimination, aligning directly with his administration’s MORE Agenda.

“Our reforms are working, our institutions are gaining traction, our public trust is growing to further strengthen our social welfare.”

“Education and Security in Delta State, the Delta State investment law provides the legal framework and ensuring equitable and grassroot focused access to resources and services in a timely manner that will improve the socio-economic wellbeing of every resident especially the vulnerable and the underserved population without discrimination.”

The governor noted that the new law would strengthen institutions while prioritising inclusion, opportunity, and shared prosperity for all Deltans.

He commended the harmonious working relationship between the executive and the Delta State House of Assembly, which facilitated the swift passage of the bills.

“Meaningful progress demands bold decisions and real change comes from the courage to act and we will lay the foundation for long term prosperity and inclusive opportunities”

“This legislation reinforces our commitment to people-centred development, restoring public confidence through transparent and efficient service delivery,” he said.

As these reforms take effect, the Oborevwori administration continues to consolidate gains in human capital development and inclusive growth, building a stronger foundation for Delta State’s future.
