Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli on Monday, January 12, 2026, marking another major milestone in his administration’s urban infrastructure expansion drive.
The ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. (WAT, +0100), according to a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Wednesday.
Invited guests have been advised to be seated by 10:30 a.m. ahead of the official kick-off, the statement added.
Construction activities have already commenced at the project site by the contracting firm, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, signaling the administration’s resolve to ensure timely delivery of the landmark project.
The Otovwodo Junction Flyover is one of two newly approved flyover projects recently endorsed by the State Executive Council (EXCO).
This comes as the state nears completion of three earlier flyovers awarded by the Oborevwori administration at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, Enerhen Junction.

All three projects, handled by Julius Berger, are now at advanced completion stages.
The second newly approved flyover is located at Uromi Junction in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
To ease traffic congestion during construction at Otovwodo, Governor Oborevwori had earlier ordered the building of four adjoining roads at
Ovie Palace Road, Okogbe Road, Oyakemeagbegha Street and Edo Road.
The strategic intervention aims to decongest the busy junction and minimize disruption to motorists and residents throughout the construction phase.
Similarly, Julius Berger has begun preliminary works at the Uromi Junction Flyover site, though the groundbreaking ceremony for that project is expected to be announced later.
The flyover projects align with Governor Oborevwori’s broader infrastructure renewal agenda, designed to improve traffic management, enhance commuter safety, boost economic activities, support urban mobility across Delta State.
State officials described the projects as part of a long-term vision for sustainable development and economic growth in the region.
