Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, has approved N100 billion for local government interventions in the proposed 2026 Budget.
He made the announcement on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, while presenting the budget to the Delta State House of Assembly.
According to the Governor, the fund is aimed at addressing major infrastructural and developmental needs across the state’s 25 local government areas. The intervention, which amounts to an average of N4 billion per LGA, underscores the administration’s commitment to fairness, balanced development, and grassroots empowerment.
“This government is a listening one,” Governor Oborevwori said. “We receive constant appeals from leaders and communities for targeted support. This allocation will help us respond swiftly and effectively while ensuring equity across the state.”
The 2026 spending plan, tagged “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” prioritizes social protection, infrastructure, human capital development, agriculture, and security. The Local Government Intervention Fund is a major component of this people-focused strategy, intended to complement ongoing projects and improve living standards in local communities.
Governor Oborevwori further urged local government leaders to align with the MORE Agenda and ensure that the funds are used transparently and efficiently for the benefit of their constituents.
