A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Otunba Nick Ovuakporie, has reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as the undisputed leader of the party in the state.
Ovuakporie, who recently stepped down as the state secretary of the APC, made this known during a chat with journalists, dismissing rumors of any potential challenge to the governor’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ovuakporie stated that Governor Oborevwori has gained widespread support from the people of Delta State, thanks to his impressive developmental efforts—support that he believes will secure the governor’s re-election in 2027.
Reflecting on his contributions to the party’s growth, Ovuakporie stressed that the APC is founded on progressive principles and does not belong to any one person.
He pointed out that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege came into the APC from the Labour Party after the party had already been formed under the leadership of its founding figure, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.
The former APC secretary accused Omo-Agege of breaking party ranks during the 2023 presidential election by openly collaborating with the Labour Party.
Ovuakporie asserted that if not for his own personal sacrifices, Omo-Agege would never have risen to a leadership position within the APC in Delta State.
He emphasized that the existing APC structure in Delta, from the ward level to the state executives, was a result of his efforts, and urged party members to rally behind the leadership of the governor.
