Ojji Bows out as Macaulay Assumes Duty in Delta Information Ministry

The Delta State Ministry of Information witnessed a smooth leadership transition on Monday 29 December 2025 as the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Mr. Harold Ojji, formally handed over to Mrs. Stella Macaulay.

The ceremony, held at the ministry’s premises in Asaba, was graced by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, who lauded Ojji’s exemplary service.

Aniagwu recounted his long professional relationship with Ojji, dating back to Government House, praising his private sector experience and grasp of public service dynamics.

“Mr. Ojji has been supportive, dependable and results-oriented,” he said, highlighting the retiree’s commitment to capacity building and work ethic.

The commissioner urged ministry staff to embrace diligence, avoid delays in file processing, and recognise that competence drives career advancement. He clarified that recent staff redeployments were strategic, aimed at enhancing performance rather than punishment.

Addressing the new permanent secretary, Aniagwu charged Macaulay to consolidate gains, elevate standards, and meet the role’s challenges.

In response, Ojji commended Aniagwu’s “unprecedented welfarist approach” to staff welfare and effective management of over 80 NYSC corps members.

However, he flagged operational hurdles, including lack of official vehicles, inadequate equipment, and the need to upgrade facilities at parastatals like Pointer Newspaper and Delta Broadcasting Service in Asaba and Warri.

Macaulay described the event as emotional, expressing fondness for working with Ojji, whom she called a mentor of vast experience.

She praised Aniagwu’s visionary leadership and pledged to prioritise staff training for improved efficiency.

Goodwill messages came from Director of New Media, Mr. Salvation Ogono, and NUJ Delta Council Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, who hailed Ojji’s contributions and expressed optimism in Macaulay’s leadership.

The event peaked with the signing of handover notes, sealing the transition.
