April 7th, 2025, marked a significant milestone in the Okere Urhobo Kingdom, as the people came together to celebrate the 2nd coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ogheneochuko Morris, Owhotemu II, the Orosuen of Okere Urobo Kingdom.
It was a day of reverence, reflection, and rejoicing at the palace grounds of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, as His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpimi-Egbobonyen, Owhotemu II, celebrated his second year on the throne.
The event was marked by a grand thanksgiving service in honor of the monarch’s impactful leadership.
In just two years, Owhotemu II has distinguished himself as a symbol of wisdom, unity, and progress—earning recognition as the longest reigning monarch in recent times within the region.
A powerful sermon was delivered by Pastor Chijuke Uzoma, who charged the people with a message of hope, calling for unity, faith, and collaboration as cornerstones for continued development in the kingdom.
The celebration drew a host of dignitaries, Kings and chiefs from across Urhobo land including the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, the Orosuen of Agbarha Warri-Kingdom, the Ovie of Arahwarien Kingdom, Ovie of Agbraha-Otor Kingdom, Ovie of Oghara Kingdom amongst others. The Governor of Delta State was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Etacherure Terry.
Their presence underscored the growing influence of the Orosuen and reaffirmed solidarity among the Urhobo people.
Across the community, voices of admiration echoed through the palace grounds. The Youth Leader of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Elvis Okpako Eboh praised the King’s inclusive leadership, noting His Majesty’s steadfast efforts in engaging and empowering young people.
The women of the kingdom also expressed heartfelt gratitude, commending the Orosuen for his unwavering support and advocacy for women’s involvement in the kingdom’s affairs.
A major highlight of the day was the dedication of the newly constructed Palace Temple—an architectural and spiritual milestone that stands as a testament to the kingdom’s cultural heritage and growing legacy.
The event also featured colorful cultural display by various cultural groups.
