Okorodudu Urges Nigerian Beauty Queens and Kings to Use Crown for Community Service

The Executive Director of Projects on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, has urged Nigerian beauty queens and kings to view their crowns as symbols of divine favor, responsibility, and leadership, encouraging them to make meaningful contributions to society, especially at the grassroots level.

Dr. Okorodudu made the remarks while receiving members of the Association of Beauty Queens and Kings, Nigeria, during a courtesy visit to his office at the DESOPADEC corporate headquarters in Warri.

Highlighting the cultural significance of beauty pageantry, he described it as “a rich part of our culture and tradition” that extends beyond fashion and glamour.

“The concept of a beauty queen is quite rich,” he said. “We aim to celebrate natural beauty, which reflects God’s creation of mankind. When you wear that crown, it is not just for display. You carry a crown of glory, favor, and authority, and it must be worn with knowledge and responsibility.”

He stressed the importance of using their platform to engage in humanitarian efforts that uplift the less privileged and strengthen community values. Responding to their visit, Dr. Okorodudu expressed support for their initiatives, commending their recent food distribution in Okpare-Olomu and encouraging them to continue making a positive impact.

During the visit, Ambassador Henrietta Henry, National Vice President of the association, praised Dr. Okorodudu for his philanthropic and developmental contributions in Delta State. She also highlighted the group’s achievements, which include:

  • Establishing 26 branches across Nigeria, including Lagos and Abuja.
  • Donating aprons and providing financial empowerment to market women.
  • Organizing annual free medical outreaches, skill acquisition training, and donating educational materials to schools.
  • Launching the Save the Girl Child campaign in 10 states.

Ambassador Henry explained that the visit aimed to show appreciation for Dr. Okorodudu’s contributions, seek his mentorship and acceptance as a patron, and invite him to the association’s 14th National Conference and Anniversary scheduled for November 28, 2025, in Cross River State.

She further announced the group’s plan to honor him with the Ambassador of Youth Award, after which he would be formally titled Ambassador Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu.

Additionally, she briefed him on the association’s ongoing Rural Palliative Empowerment Project in Okpare-Olomu, Ughelli South Local Government Area, aimed at supporting widows, orphans, and vulnerable individuals through food donations, financial aid, and educational support. She appealed for his partnership to advance these initiatives.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a souvenir and plaque to Dr. Okorodudu by the association in recognition of his support and achievements.
