A well-respected youth leader from the Ogbe-Obi Quarters in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Chinwuokwu Victor Obi, has been bestowed with the prestigious Alor chieftaincy title.
He has pledged to play an active role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the community.
Chief Obi now officially known as the Azunagbalumili I of Okpanam made this commitment at his Ogbe-Obi residence while addressing journalists shortly after the conferment ceremony.
He explained that his acceptance of the title stems from his strong respect for tradition, adding that he is committed to upholding the principles and responsibilities that come with being an Alor title holder. According to him, truthfulness, integrity, and fairness are essential qualities required to handle issues brought before him in his new role.
Expressing gratitude to the Alor title holders for finding him worthy of the honour, Chief Obi emphasized that sincerity is the true hallmark of leadership and the most valuable attribute of anyone who holds a traditional title.
Earlier, Chief Chiwete Odianjor stated that recipients of the Nkalor title automatically become elders in Okpanam. He welcomed Chief Obi into the group, praising his impeccable character, humility, peaceful nature, and dedication to the progress of his people qualities that made him deserving of the honour.
He further noted that Nkalor title holders play an important role in supporting community elders in maintaining unity and peace in Okpanam.
The celebrant’s wife, Mrs. Ngozi Obi, expressed confidence that her husband will bring wisdom and positive contributions to the forum of Mkpalor title holders and to Okpanam as a whole. She encouraged him to remain honest, offer sound advice, and prayed for God’s blessings, good health, and long life for him.
