The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has stepped in to help Itsekiri students at Novena University in Ogume, Ndokwa West, Delta State, who were being denied their certificates because of unpaid tuition and clearance fees tied to the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
Prince Collins Edema, who serves as the Olu of Warri’s sole representative to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its joint venture partners, shared this in a statement.
He explained that the monarch’s intervention reflects his dedication to the development, empowerment, and future of Itsekiri youth. Edema added that the affected students are required to complete a Google Form with their information, after which the outstanding fees will be paid off in batches.
The statement read,“His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri, has graciously approved an intervention to resolve the outstanding PAP tuition and clearance fees for Itsekiri students at Novena University, who have been unable to obtain their certificates or proceed for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).”
The data collection process will continue until September 30, 2025. Once it’s completed, payments for tuition and clearance fees will begin, allowing the students to finally receive their certificates and move on to NYSC without any more delays.
The monarch highlighted that this gesture reflects his deep, lasting love for the Itsekiri Nation and his vision of a future where every Itsekiri youth can access education, empowerment, and opportunities to thrive—without obstacles.
