OML 42 Host Training in Ughelli

Community representatives from OML 42 host communities have converged on Ughelli, Delta State, for a strategic training workshop aimed at helping them maximise the benefits provided under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The capacity-building programme, organised by the Center for Peace & Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) and supported by NNPC Limited/NECONDE in collaboration with Jones Creek Hydrocarbon Limited, focuses on key issues such as the structure and management of Host Community Development Trusts, good governance practices, accountability, and conflict resolution.

Addressing participants at the session, CEPEJ National Coordinator, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, emphasised the importance of communities fully understanding and embracing the PIA framework. He noted that doing so would ensure that funds allocated to host communities are effectively utilised for visible and meaningful development projects.

Participants expressed confidence that the training would enhance their leadership skills, promote transparency in managing community funds, and foster sustainable peace between host communities and oil companies operating in the area.
