The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has urged Deltans to collaborate with the state government in promoting development through private investments and community-driven projects.
He made the appeal while commissioning the newly opened Sky Favour Hotel in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, describing the hotel as a major boost to economic growth, job creation, and the state’s vision for inclusive development.
Onyeme praised the hotel’s owners for their foresight and confidence in investing in Delta State, noting that their initiative complements Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment.
“This administration has always believed that every development, investment, and effort to sustain peace and security in our state encourages Deltans living elsewhere to return home and actively participate in the state’s and their communities’ progress,” Onyeme said. “On behalf of the governor and the government, we deeply appreciate the establishment of this hotel in Delta.”
He also reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting and protecting investors, emphasizing that local involvement is essential for sustainable development.
“Any Deltan who brings their resources back home to invest will have no reason to regret it. Development starts with us; if you don’t take the initiative, don’t expect others to do it for you. Demonstrating your own efforts inspires confidence in others,” he added.
The Chairman of the event and Director-General of Revenue Monitoring, Tracking, and Audit, Chief Mike Edegware, praised the Oborevwori administration for its unwavering support of private enterprise, highlighting Delta State’s stable and secure business climate as a benchmark for other states.
In a welcome address read on behalf of the Managing Director and CEO of Sky Favour Hotel, Mr. Peter Idhugwe, by Barr. Favour Idhugwe, the management explained that establishing the hotel in Oleh was a strategic move to leverage the area’s tourism and cultural assets.
He added that the hotel would not only offer top-notch hospitality services but also draw visitors to Isoko’s vibrant festivals and cultural events, thereby promoting local tourism and creating new opportunities for small businesses.
