Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has surpassed the expectations of the electorate within his first two years in office.
Onyeme made the remark on Sunday at a reception in Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, held in honour of Hon. Eugene Okolocha, Ph.D, who was recently appointed Commissioner representing the South-South in the Nigeria Law Reform Commission (NLRC) by President Bola Tinubu.
The reception followed a Thanksgiving Mass at St. John’s Catholic Church, Abbi, where Okolocha expressed gratitude to God for his appointment.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor congratulated Okolocha and expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver in his new role. He also described the appointment as a blessing for Ndokwa land and Delta State at large.
“This appointment of our brother, Hon. Eugene Okolocha, as a member of the Nigeria Law Reform Commission is one of the ways God is working for us as a people,” Onyeme said. “In just two years, our Governor has recorded tremendous progress, especially in road infrastructure.
Projects such as the Inam–Abbi road, Emu–Abraka road, Onicha-Ukwuani to Utagba-Uno road, and the Aboh–Akarai road are receiving deserved attention. Already, the bridge across Ase Creek and the Obi Ukpo–Ibabu road have been completed by this administration.”
Onyeme further noted that Governor Oborevwori’s access to the Presidency would bring more benefits to Deltans under the MORE Agenda, urging the people to continue supporting the administration.
Earlier in his remarks, Prof. Chike Okolocha, elder brother of Hon. Eugene Okolocha and former Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, pledged the family’s support for the Oborevwori-led government and described Onyeme as the political leader of Ndokwa land.

At the Thanksgiving Mass, Hon. Okolocha recalled surviving a failed assassination attempt 19 years ago and said his new appointment was another reason to return to the altar in gratitude. “Nineteen years ago, I came to this same church to thank God for saving my life. Today, I return to thank Him for making me Commissioner representing the South-South in the NLRC,” he said.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Ezekiel Awore, Parish Priest of St. John’s Catholic Church, stressed the importance of humility as a Christian virtue.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Hon. Charles Emetulu, member representing Ndokwa West Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly; Chief Fidelis Tilije, Commissioner for Finance; Sir Christopher Osakwe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House; Sir Felix Gbagi; Chief Henry Okechukwu; Mr. Ray Owen; among others.
