Nigerian international forward Victor Osimhen is set to participate in Napoli’s pre-season training starting in mid-July, even as speculation surrounding his departure from the club continues.
Italian sports publication, La Gazzetta dello Sport, revealed this update regarding the 26-year-old, who had a remarkable season while on loan at Galatasaray in Turkey.
Napoli’s pre-season schedule is planned to begin on July 14, and the former Lille player is anticipated to reunite with his teammates to start preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Osimhen has just returned from a vacation in Nigeria after assisting Galatasaray in achieving a domestic double, which includes winning the Super Lig and the Turkish Cup.
During his loan period at the club, he netted 37 goals and contributed eight assists over 41 matches in all competitions.
Although his future club has not been determined, Port City News reported that Osimhen declined a tempting offer of €40 million per year from Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal.
As stated by Football Italia, the Saudi Pro League club has not given up on securing the player, but should they fail to finalize an agreement with the striker by mid-July, he will be required to join his teammates for pre-season training.
Medical evaluations for Napoli’s squad are organized for July 14 and 15, with practice sessions scheduled to take place in Dimaro, Trentino Alto Adige, from July 17 to 27.
After a brief two-day break, training will resume in Castel Di Sangro, Abruzzo, from July 30 to August 14.
Additional reports indicate that Napoli will soon inform Osimhen about his pre-season obligations.
While he is expected to undergo medical examinations with his teammates, it remains unclear if he will take part in full team workouts or follow a distinct training routine.

Osimhen’s current agreement with Napoli is valid until June 2026, but the club has the option to extend it through 2027.
The contract includes a €75 million release clause, applicable only outside Serie A teams, suggesting that Italian clubs like Juventus must offer a higher amount.
He has also been rumored to be moving to the English Premier League, which is widely regarded as his preferred next step.
Manchester United seems to be at the forefront of this pursuit, whereas Chelsea had previously engaged in talks with the player. Arsenal reportedly did not make a firm offer, and Liverpool was rumored to have shown interest in a player-plus-cash arrangement for the prolific striker.
