CP Oyeniyi Yemi John has officially taken over as the 24th Commissioner of Police in Delta State, succeeding CP Aina Adesola.
Born on March 5, 1969, he is from Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1991, and more recently completed a Master’s degree in Public Order and Information Management at the University of Uyo in 2023.
His educational background also includes a Diploma in Personnel Management from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management in Lagos (2019), as well as a Diploma in Community Policing from the Police Staff College, Jos.
CP Oyeniyi joined the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State. After finishing his training, he was posted to the Akwa Ibom State Command in 1996.
Throughout his career, he has handled a range of key responsibilities spanning operations, administration, investigations, and training within the Force.
With over 20 years of steady rise through the ranks, he is widely seen as an experienced and capable officer, expected to leverage his expertise to enhance security efforts in Delta State.
