Parents and guardians on Monday, staged a protest over the increase in fees and the cost of books for their wards by the authorities of the College of Education Warri, COEWA Nursery & Primary School in Warri, Delta State.Â
The parents and guardians were joined by their children in the protest outside the school, claiming that the increment is outrageous.Â
One of the parents, Tonukarin Dabona said the school increased the books of his wards from ₦29,500 to ₦52,000, claiming that the school made the books and payment mandatory.
He said if the school’s authority does not revert the hike in the prices of books, parents will not allow their children to go back to school.
Meanwhile, Mr. Preye Suowari who has theee kids in the school, said parents are not happy about the increment.
“The reason why parents are gathered here is because they’re protesting the hike of fees and books of their kids by the Management of COEWA Nursery & Primary School”.
“Parents are crying. Parents are dying”, he noted.
He also said that the books that are being sold at exorbitant prices by the school are not original from the factory.Â
Other parents who claimed to have paid the fees demanded a refund their monies so they could take their children to private schools within Warri.
They warned that they would take legal action if the school refuse to refund their money.
