The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency has embarked on a new chapter, signaling a revitalized commitment to reclaiming its former political prominence.
A series of strategic events, including the U3 Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit, the inauguration of the PDP U3 Media Ambassadors, the U3 LGA Executives Empowerment Summit, the launch of the U3 Legislators Forum, and the empowerment of PDP women leaders by the Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation, underscored the party’s determination to win back the federal constituency in the 2027 elections.
These initiatives have reinvigorated the party’s base, making it vibrant, dynamic, and ready to reclaim its lost glory. By empowering women, youths, and party leaders, Dr. Olotu Akpodiete has outlined a vision for the PDP that is inclusive, forward-looking, and people-centered.
The events, held across the federal constituency, drew notable PDP members, including Chairmen and Executives of the three LGAs, reflecting the party’s unity and shared purpose. Dr. Akpodiete, a former House of Representatives aspirant and convener of the programs, reiterated the party’s commitment to regaining its mandate.
At the U3 Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit, young participants from across the constituency pledged their support for Dr. Akpodiete as the PDP’s sole candidate for 2027. The youth leaders of Ughelli South and Ughelli North LGAs, Hon. Stephen Ashiemuke and Engr. Benedict Onovughakpor respectively, formally moved and seconded a vote of confidence in him. In response, Dr. Akpodiete thanked the youths for their dedication and urged them to work as a cohesive team in preparation for the elections.
The inauguration of the U3 Media Ambassadors marked a major step in strengthening the party’s communication strategy. By equipping media practitioners with the skills and tools needed to effectively convey the party’s message, counter opposition narratives, and highlight its achievements, the PDP is positioning itself for stronger outreach. The media team was tasked with serving as watchdogs for the public while promoting the party’s image and activities.
The U3 Legislators Forum, bringing together former councilors, promises to be a game-changer for the PDP. Led by Hon. Patrick Bodosika, the forum provides a platform for legislators to share ideas, collaborate, and craft strategies that advance both the people’s interests and the party’s agenda.
In a demonstration of the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment, the Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation distributed cash, gifts, and wrappers to PDP women leaders, encouraging them to actively support the party and its initiatives leading up to 2027.
