Police Arrest Woman Over Robbery Plot in Asaba

The Delta State Police Command has taken into custody a 24-year-old woman, Jessica Anthony, over her alleged role in planning a robbery aimed at stealing her boyfriend’s gold jewellery. The plot was uncovered and foiled in Asaba.

Police investigations revealed that Jessica allegedly worked with a friend, identified as Ada, to recruit criminals who would carry out the robbery and hand the jewellery over to her. She was said to have explained that the scheme was intended to raise funds to resolve her sister’s financial challenges.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the suspect unknowingly contacted a community leader in Warri who is known to cooperate with the police. After learning who the intended victim was, the leader informed the boyfriend, who agreed that the plan should be allowed to play out so the suspects could be caught.

The suspects reportedly received N65,000 from Jessica to cover logistics and were arrested after she guided the supposed robbers to her boyfriend’s house. The boyfriend, who placed the value of the targeted jewellery at several million naira, was reportedly stunned by the development as police continue their investigation.
