The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant achievements in its fight against crime across the state in the month of October through early November 2025.
Our correspondent reports that several suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, and drug dealers were arrested during the period, with firearms, ammunition, ransom, and illicit drugs recovered.
Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, announced the Command’s latest breakthroughs during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Asaba.

According to the Commissioner, on the 1st of November, police operatives acting on a distress call rescued a kidnapped woman in Obinomba community after a gun battle with her abductors.
One suspect was fatally wounded, and an AK-47 rifle with twelve rounds of live ammunition was recovered.
In another major operation, a notorious arms dealer, identified as Ahmed Ibrahim, and a female accomplice, Jamila Abubakar, were arrested in Warri.
Over three hundred rounds of live ammunition and thirty-two cartridges were seized from the suspects, who are believed to supply weapons to bandits and kidnappers.

The Command also arrested a gang responsible for the kidnapping of two persons in Asaba.
The suspects were tracked to Anambra State, and a total of four million, one hundred thousand naira ransom was recovered from them.
Similarly, the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad rescued three kidnapped victims in Ubeji community, while seven suspects were taken into custody.
In other parts of the state, police recovered several locally made firearms, including pump-action guns, pistols, and cut-to-size rifles, during routine patrols and stop-and-search operations.

The Crack Squad also arrested suspected drug traffickers in Effurun, recovering large quantities of codeine, tramadol, and cannabis.
Summarizing the achievements, CP Abaniwonda said the Command recovered 13 firearms, 591 rounds of ammunition, and arrested 77 suspects within the period under review. He added that five kidnapped victims were rescued and three stolen vehicles recovered.

CP Olufemi Abaniwonda commended the effort of his officers and community vigilantes for their cooperation and bravery.
He assured Deltans that the Command will continue to intensify operations to rid the state of crime and insecurity.
