Police confirm release of abducted Warri lawyer, Akpo Mudiaga Odje

Warri-based senior legal practitioner and human rights lawyer, Dr. Akpo Mudiaga Odje, who was abducted from his chambers adjacent Warri Main Market, by gunmen regained his freedom from the abductors late Sunday night.

It was gathered that following the police manhunt for the abductors, the Warri-based lawyer was reportedly released.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the news to the Vanguard Newspapers.

Dr Akpo Odje was reportedly taken away from his office in Warri on Sunday at about 7pm.

Confirming the incident, one of the abductee’s friends, Omes Ogedegbe, said, “I am happy to tell you that Dr Mudiaga Odje has been released and has been reunited with his family.”

It is alleged that a ransom was paid for the lawyer’s release.
