The Delta State Police Command has rescued a five-month-old baby boy who was kidnapped two months ago during a trip from Koko to Warri.
According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the baby was taken in February by a 49-year-old woman named Mrs. Joy Temitope Oyetimi. She was arrested after weeks of investigation.
The baby’s mother, a 20-year-old woman, had gone on a business trip with the suspect on 16th February 2025. During the journey, Oyetimi gave her a drink secretly mixed with a drug.
The young mother fell asleep, and while she was unconscious, the suspect disappeared with her baby, who was just two months old at the time.
The case was reported to the police at Ekpan Police Station. Officers began an intelligence-based investigation and eventually tracked down Oyetimi.
Oyetimi confessed to taking the child during questioning. CP Abaniwonda confirmed that the baby was found in good health and has been reunited with his parents. He described the case as a warning about people who take advantage of others’ trust.
He also said that the police are still investigating to find out if more people were involved or if there are other victims. However, Oyetimi is currently in police custody.
