Police Week 2026: Delta Command Holds Statewide Sanitation, Health Drive

The Delta State Police Command on Monday kicked off activities for the 2026 National Police Week with a statewide sanitation exercise and a free medical outreach, underscoring its dedication to community service and public health.

This was made known in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who explained that the programme is part of efforts to strengthen ties between the police and the public while encouraging environmental cleanliness across the state.

The clean-up exercise took place simultaneously in all nine Area Commands, with officers actively clearing drainages, markets, and other public spaces within their jurisdictions.

According to the Command, the initiative highlights its determination to promote a healthier environment and build stronger connections with communities at the grassroots level.

Alongside this, a medical outreach was held at selected locations, including the Police Headquarters, where residents received free healthcare services such as consultations, basic medical checks, and essential medications.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, led the exercise at Anioma Market, joined by members of the command’s management team, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical commanders.

Speaking at the event, the CP noted that the activities reflect the theme of this year’s Police Week, “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” emphasizing that modern policing involves not just enforcing the law but also engaging with and serving the community.

He also encouraged residents to maintain cleanliness in their homes and surroundings, pointing out that a clean environment is key to good health.

The Command reiterated its commitment to initiatives that support public health, foster trust between the police and the public, and improve safety and well-being across the state.
