Public Complaints Commission Seeks Stronger Ties with Delta Govt

The Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Public Complaints Commission to address social injustice and curb maladministration across ministries, departments, and agencies in the state.

This assurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, when he received the Federal Commissioner, Hon. Matthew Uduaghan, alongside other members of the commission’s management team.

Dr. Emu noted that the commission, which is responsible for handling cases of social injustice, must remain faithful to its core mandate and help ease the pressures of governance for political office holders. He urged the leadership of the commission to stay true to the principles on which it was founded. The SSG pledged that the state government would cooperate fully with the commission in investigating and resolving any matter brought before it to a logical conclusion.

He also advised Hon. Uduaghan to ensure the commission carries out its duties diligently in order to build and maintain the confidence of stakeholders. Emu cautioned against the culture of partial policy implementation seen in some public institutions, stressing that the role should not be treated casually but approached with seriousness and a clear sense of purpose.

Earlier, Hon. Uduaghan explained that the visit was intended to strengthen the long-standing working relationship between the commission and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government—a relationship that dates back to when both offices shared the same premises and worked closely together in advancing national development.

He appealed to the SSG to keep his office accessible to the commission for necessary consultations, interventions, and collaboration aimed at promoting administrative justice within the state’s bureaucracy, both now and in the future.

Uduaghan also commended the Delta State Government for creating a supportive environment that enables the commission to carry out its statutory responsibilities effectively. He mentioned that a complaint currently pending before the Ministry of Health may soon be referred to the SSG’s office for further attention.

Providing a brief overview of the commission’s operations, Uduaghan disclosed that the agency has a presence in all 36 states of the federation. In Delta State, it operates seven zonal offices located in Agbor, Warri, Ughelli, Ogwashi-Uku, Oleh, Ozoro, and Udu.
