Rev Uma Ukpai Dies at 80

The family of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai has officially announced the passing of the respected evangelist, who went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

In a statement titled “Glorious Transition,” they expressed deep gratitude to God for his life and ministry, honoring him as “a faithful soldier of the cross” who has now been called to rest after a lifetime dedicated to spreading the gospel.

“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed into glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest,” the statement read.

The family shared that Dr. Ukpai devoted more than sixty years to passionate evangelism, powerful preaching, and prophetic displays of God’s power. They highlighted that his ministry “touched millions of lives and changed destinies both in Nigeria and around the world.”

The statement also described him as “a spiritual leader renowned for his evangelism, a pioneer of faith, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a mentor to many,” emphasizing that his life reflected God’s power and love.

“Though we grieve his passing, we celebrate that he has completed his journey and is now resting in eternal worship,” the family said, adding that they will share funeral details in due time.

The family expressed heartfelt thanks to God for his remarkable life and lasting impact, referencing Philippians 1:21:

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was the founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association and one of the pioneering figures behind the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). He was highly regarded for his spiritual insight, passionate evangelism, and decades of ministry both nationally and internationally.

His legacy of faith, leadership, and compassion continues to inspire countless believers in Nigeria and beyond.
