Motorists and commuters plying the Asaba-Kwale-Warri Road in Delta State are currently having a hectic time connecting their destinations following the collapse of the bridge on the road.

Reports indicate that the collapse left motorists and commuters stranded along the Ogwashi-Uku-Kwale axis.

It was gathered that the bridge, which was under construction, was almost at the completion stage before it collapsed on Monday night.

The cause of the collapse was yet unknown as the officials of the construction company, CCECC, declined comments when interviewed by the press at the site on Tuesday.

There has been stranded motorists on both sides of the collapsed bridge. Some commuters were also seen resorting to trekking across the collapsed bridge to join other vehicles that were equally stranded on that side of the bridge to continue their journey.

According to PUNCH Metro, efforts made to reach the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Noel Omodon, for comment, failed as calls put across to him were not responded to as of the time of filing this report. It was, however, gathered that the commissioner had earlier inspected the collapsed bridge.

Meanwhile, motorists and commuters travelling to Kwale, Ozoro, Ughelli and Warri from Asaba had been advised to use alternative routes.
