Security Tightened in Oghior as Authorities Clamp Down on Violence

A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed on Oghior Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State following fresh violence that resulted in the destruction of properties and the burning of several houses.

The order, issued by Udu Council Chairman Olorogun Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, takes immediate effect from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The announcement, delivered through his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Henry Ubus, directed security agencies to move in quickly and restore calm. Oyibode instructed security operatives to take decisive action against anyone found carrying illegal weapons or attempting to escalate the unrest.

He emphasized that the council remains committed to safeguarding lives and property and will not tolerate criminal activities that threaten the peace of Oghior or any other part of Udu. Residents were urged to obey the curfew and cooperate with security personnel already deployed to the community.

Oyibode added that the council, in collaboration with security agencies, will continue to monitor the situation closely until peace and normalcy return fully to the area.
