Senator Ede Dafinone has condemned in strong terms the killing of Mr. Ese Idisi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, calling the act shocking, heartbreaking, and a serious threat to the peace of Delta State.
In a statement released on Monday, Senator Dafinone said he was “deeply shocked, saddened, and completely outraged” by the gruesome murder of the respected grassroots leader. He noted that the incident has left the APC family and the entire Ethiope East community in grief. The senator described the late Idisi as a loyal, hardworking party member who served with true dedication and a firm belief in democratic principles.
“The killing of Mr. Idisi is not only a painful loss to his family and our party, but to the whole of Delta State,” he said. “He was a steadfast party man who gave his all with loyalty, commitment, and a deep belief in democracy.”
Senator Dafinone urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to immediately commence a thorough, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into what he described as a barbaric crime. He insisted that those behind the killing must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted as quickly as possible.
“Justice must not only be done= it must be clearly seen to be done,” he stressed.
Calling for calm in Ethiope East and among APC supporters, the Delta Central senator warned against retaliatory actions or violence, saying that taking the law into one’s own hands would only make an already painful situation worse.
“This is a time for calm, restraint, and confidence in the justice system,” he said. “Violence will only deepen our sorrow and divert attention from the urgent need to secure justice for Mr. Idisi.”
He also appealed to community leaders, youths, and other stakeholders to support security agencies by providing any useful information that could help the investigation, noting that keeping the community safe is a shared responsibility.
On behalf of his family and political associates, Senator Dafinone extended his deepest condolences to the Idisi family, the APC leadership in Delta State, and the people of Ethiope East.
“His death is a huge loss, and we stand firmly with everyone who mourns him. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may justice prevail,” he said.
