Senator Dafinone Highlights Clark-Omeru’s Expertise

Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has praised the nomination of Ambassador-Designate Efe Alexandra Clark-Omeru, describing her as a highly accomplished diplomat whose expertise, professionalism, and dedication to national service are set to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy initiatives.

In a statement released on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Senator Dafinone said he was pleased to meet with Clark-Omeru ahead of her screening at the National Assembly, calling the encounter both enlightening and reassuring given her impressive track record in the foreign service.

“This morning, I had the pleasure of receiving Ambassador-Designate Efe Alexandra Clark-Omeru ahead of her upcoming screening at the National Assembly,” he said. “She is among the 34 career diplomats recently nominated by the President, part of a total of 68 ambassadors-designate forwarded to the Senate for confirmation—an important demonstration of the administration’s commitment to professionalism, merit, and continuity in our foreign service.”

Senator Dafinone noted that their discussion covered the responsibilities she will assume in her new role, as well as her vision for elevating Nigeria’s influence on the international stage. “We discussed the duties that come with her prospective position, the strategic contributions she is expected to make to Nigeria’s diplomatic corps, and her vision for enhancing the country’s global presence,” he added.

Ambassador-Designate Clark-Omeru is widely respected in diplomatic circles, particularly for her pioneering tenure in Cameroon, where she became the first female Consul General overseeing the Littoral and West Regions. She received acclaim for uniting the Nigerian community, fostering bilateral relations, and promoting patriotism through effective cultural diplomacy, as well as for her leadership during national celebrations and crisis-management efforts involving Nigerians abroad.

A seasoned diplomat with decades of experience, Clark-Omeru has previously served at Nigeria’s High Commission in South Africa, as Head of Mission in Argentina, and as Minister II in Pretoria—roles that established her as a competent, compassionate, and firm envoy. Born on October 6, 1972, in Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, she holds degrees in Sociology/Anthropology and Social Work from the University of Benin. Beyond her civil service career, she holds royal status as a Queen through her marriage to HRM Michael G. Omeru, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom in Delta State.
