Senator Ede Dafinone recently held a strategic meeting with local government chairmen from across the Delta Central Senatorial District. This engagement signals a renewed push for stronger political coordination and grassroots development within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting took place at the Otor-Udu Gas Plant Hotel. It drew attendance from seven of the eight local government chairmen in the district. Only the chairman of Ethiope West Local Government was absent from the gathering.
This engagement comes at a critical time following recent political shifts in Delta State. Several former PDP local government chairmen recently defected to the APC. These changes initially left the party without established grassroots leadership at the council level.
In light of this new landscape, Senator Ede Dafinone felt it was essential to meet the chairmen formally. His goal was to introduce himself and build a productive working relationship. Furthermore, he aimed to strengthen cooperation across the entire district to ensure political stability.
Sources familiar with the meeting emphasized that the discussion went beyond simple introductions. Instead, the focus remained on practical collaboration. The leaders explored ways the local councils and the Senator’s office could work together to improve community life.
The discussions centered on delivering the “dividends of democracy” to all parts of Delta Central. Specifically, they focused on communities that urgently require federal attention and policy support.
“The goal is to drive development at the community level,” a source noted. Consequently, the chairmen and the Senator plan to share resources and information more effectively.
Senator Ede Dafinone also assured the chairmen of his commitment to inter-government cooperation. He promised to work closely with the Delta State Governor to harmonize state and federal projects. This approach ensures that local government needs translate into meaningful results for the people.
The Senator personally initiated and coordinated this meeting. His decision followed numerous calls from constituents who wanted a more direct engagement with their representative at the National Assembly.
