Senator Ned Nwoko’s Office Clarifies Status of Issele-Uku Mini Stadium Project

The office of Senator Ned Nwoko has issued a clarification following online discussions and what it described as misleading reports regarding the progress of the Issele-Uku mini stadium project.

In a statement signed by Dr. Michael Nwoko, Chief of Staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, the office confirmed that the stadium is still under construction and has not yet been completed or officially handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the project is still under construction and has not yet been completed or officially handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission. Some finishing work remains, particularly in the changing rooms and toilet facilities,” the statement said.

Dr. Nwoko also stressed that the mini stadium, which had been abandoned for many years, remains the property of the Delta State Government.

He clarified that Senator Nwoko’s team only worked on the portion of the stadium officially approved for use by the Delta State Sports Commission during the project’s execution.

Dr. Nwoko also explained that youths in Issele-Uku have been given temporary access to the facility for daily sports activities a gesture described as “purely out of goodwill” and aimed at promoting community development and youth engagement.

“The gesture is meant to encourage sports and foster a sense of community among young people while work on the facility continues,” he added.

The Issele-Uku mini stadium project is part of a broader range of community-focused initiatives supported by Senator Nwoko, designed to enhance youth development, sports participation, and infrastructure growth across the Delta North Senatorial District.
