Seplat Empowers Educators with Digital and Leadership Skills

A total of 623 teachers and education inspectors from Edo and Delta States have successfully completed the 2026 Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP), an initiative sponsored by the NNPC Exploration and Production Limited/Seplat Energy Joint Venture.

The graduation ceremony, held in Benin City, marked another significant step in efforts to enhance classroom teaching through technology-based instruction and leadership training.

Throughout the programme, participants were equipped with digital skills, critical thinking abilities and modern teaching methods suited to today’s evolving learning environment. Organisers encouraged the educators to return to their schools with fresh enthusiasm and a commitment to applying innovative strategies that will boost student participation and academic performance.

Government officials present at the event aligned the initiative with ongoing education reforms in Edo and Delta States, emphasising that improving teacher quality is key to achieving sustainable progress in the sector. They urged the graduates to view themselves as change agents who can help raise standards not only in their own classrooms but across the wider education system.

Commissioners for Education from both states commended the collaboration behind the programme and advised participants to share the knowledge and skills they acquired with fellow teachers. They noted that this ripple effect would broaden the programme’s impact and further strengthen education across the region.
